The Vesta Dinner

An exclusive dinner for leaders in prominent Retail and Manufacturing companies

The Vesta Dinner was an exclusive, invitation-only dinner for leaders in prominent Retail and Manufacturing companies. This was our inaugural event in the Philippines.

At each function, we bring together 16 business leaders together for a topical dinner discussion. This particular event was held in the private dining room of Blackbird at the Nielson Tower on Tuesday, 29th of September, and the attendees debated about the changing landscape of the Filipino labour market.

The topic was introduced by an independent chairperson who kicked things off by introducing the topic of discussion before opening it out to the floor. Discussions were very much inclusive and all the wealth of experience from the senior peers in the room were involved.

Work as we know it is changing and is important to challenge convention around how we work, how we lead, and how we build our companies. The Juno Club Dinner discussed the changing landscape of the Filipino labour market and the impact that it is having on big business, specifically within the retail and manufacturing sector.

Employees, which were once thought of expendable cogs, are the most valuable assets that any organisation has. Employee attraction and retention is becoming an increasing issue in many facilities and workforce requirements and demands are evolving as the workforce become increasing complex. Many would say that, for manufacturers/retailers of the present, the ability to compete in the future economy depends on their ability to adapt and integrate with this change and adapt to new working practices.

6:30 pm: Arrival and drinks reception
7:00 pm: Welcoming and opening address
7:10 pm: Dinner discussion on “Changing landscape of the Filipino labor market” initiated by the moderator and continued by the group
8:00 pm: Dinner is served as the discussion is brought to a close
9:00 pm: Change of seats before dessert

We discussed how successful Filipino companies  attract and retain top talent, employ effective training programs, incorporate next generation manufacturing practices and find innovative ways to compete in a global economy.

  • What upcoming trends are Filipino companies preparing for and how fast are these changes happening?
  • What are the successful Filipino companies are doing to avoid high levels of employee attrition?
